Job Description
• Create conceptual and detailed machine designs (layouts, assemblies, sub-assemblies) using CAD.
• Produce draft designs and iterate based on engineering review and feedback.
• Prepare accurate BOMs in SAP for released designs and maintain version control.
• Visit client sites for line studies, measurements and process validation.
• Support assembly teams by providing shop/assembly drawings, fitment guidance and on-site troubleshooting.
• Resolve vendor technical queries related to part geometry, fit, tolerances and material specifications.
• Prepare and maintain ISO / QA documentation related to design (drawings index, design change logs, P&IDs if applicable).
• Participate in design review meetings, highlight manufacturability, safety and cost implications.
• Incorporate standard parts library, modular design practices and design-for-assembly (DFA) guidelines.
• Ensure released drawings and BOMs are production-ready (tolerances, surface finish, fastener specs, welding instructions, reference standards).
• Support procurement by validating vendor drawings, samples and component specs prior to purchase.
• Track and implement design changes and update SAP BOMs and drawing repositories.
